What an informative and busy evening our May meeting turned out to be! Roger Merry’s extensive knowledge of Lasting Power of Attorney kept the questions flowing and we all came away much more informed about this important subject. A short refreshment break meant we were able to cover all our business, including discussing and voting on the two proposed resolutions ‘Decline in local buses’ and ‘Don’t fear the smear’.
Our June meeting (10th) will be a far more relaxed ‘business-free’ meeting as we are being entertained by Marty Kristian, one of the founder members of The New Seekers (you surely remember I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing or You Know I’ll Beg Steal or Borrow?).
This is a ticketed open meeting, offered to anyone who would like to buy a £5 ticket (subject to availability). Why not make an evening of it; we’ll also have refreshments and a raffle.
We hope to see you at one of the events during June. Although do remember visitors are always welcome to attend our regular meetings three times without charge and we are sure you’ll find a warm welcome. We meet on 2nd Monday of the month, 7.30pm at Shorwell Parish Hall.
June continues to be a busy month. Our members will be providing support to Northcourt Open Gardens (2nd) and the County Show (30th) and of course June is also the month of the annual Midsummer Fair (22nd) when the WI Produce and Preserves stall will be present with homemade Jams, Chutneys and Sweets.
