Despite some wonderfully warm Spring days, our Found Object Beach Walk fell on a cold & windy day. This did not stop 11 members and 3 guests from braving the elements and exploring Compton Beach, and with the guidance of Trevor from Dinosaur Isle we found dinosaur footprints, fools gold, gastro stones, dinosaur bones and even some fossilised fish poo! We left the beach with pockets and bags full of interesting objects ready for our April meeting when Trevor returned to share information about our finds and samples from the Dinosaur Museum.
Did you spot our WI sheep in the church during the Sheep if Shorwell event? She was made by members at our ‘Not Just Knitting’ Group; it’s often surprising what we find ourselves doing!
At our May meeting (13th May), we will be hearing from Solicitor, Roger Merry. Roger will be explaining why a Lasting Power of Attorney is needed. We will also discuss and vote on the two resolutions being taken to the WI National Annual Meeting. This year the topics being debated are the ‘Decline in local buses’ and ‘Don’t fear the smear’.
Our June event is fast approaching when Marty Kristian will be entertaining us. As this is a ticketed open meeting there will be no business and the meeting is open to everyone. See separate advertisement for more information.
Visitors are welcome to attend our regular meetings three times without charge and we are sure you’ll find a warm welcome. We meet on 2nd Monday of the month, 7.30pm at Shorwell Parish Hall.
